The Capitals failed to chase down MI’s total of 205 for 5 and got bowled out for 193, succumbing to their first defeat in the process this IPL 2025 season.
Leg-spinner Karn Sharma who came in as an Impact Player was adjudged the Player of the Match for his brilliant bowling performance of 3 for 36 that broke Delhi’s back in the middle overs.

3 – It was suicidal cricket from the Delhi Capitals at the closing stages of the game. There were three run-outs in three consecutive balls to end their chase. It is the first time ever three run-outs on three successive deliveries have took place in the IPL. It was only the fifth instance where there have been run-outs in three consecutive balls in men’s T20s. Ashutosh Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav and Mohit Sharma were the three players dismissed.
83.7 – Talk about twists. This was certainly one. The Win probability for DC after 11.3 overs in the chase was 83.7 percent. They needed 71 further runs off 51 balls with eight wickets in hand. But the somehow managed to lose from that situation.
26 – Karun Nair really took on Jasprit Bumrah. He scored 26 runs off the nine deliveries that he faced against Mumbai’s star bowler. Not since 2020 (AB de Villiers scored 27 off 8 balls) had a batter scored more runs in a single IPL innings against Bumrah. Also, all 26 runs came in the powerplay, the most any batter has scored off Bumrah in this phase in a T20 match.

2520 – That is exactly the number of days between Karun Nair’s previous two fifties in the IPL – against CSK in 2018 and MI on Sunday. It is the longest gap between fifty-plus scores for any batter in the IPL. Nair, however, batted only six times during this seven-year gap. The right-hander made the most of the chance he got, finishing with 89 off 40 before being dismissed by a Mitchell Santner beauty.
13.7 – Still a fair way to go in the tournament but Delhi spinner Kuldeep Yadav is having an all-timer season so far. His Average Bowling Impact of +13.7 is currently the best for any spinner in any season of the IPL. Kuldeep finished with figures of 2 for 23 scalping wickets of Ryan Rickleton and Suryakumar Yadav.
