It’s hard to believe that Vaibhav Suryavanshi is only 14 years old, especially when you watch him easily take on top-level bowlers, many of whom are twice his age, in IPL 2025.
The Rajasthan Royals star made a big impression earlier this month when he hit a six off Shardul Thakur, and later followed it up by smashing a huge six against experienced pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
On Monday, he went a step further, hitting a blazing century in just 35 balls, the fastest ever by an Indian in IPL history.

Vaibhav’s early rise in cricket isn’t just about raw talent. He’s also shown the maturity to make tough choices to stay fit and focused on his dream.
His coach, Manoj Ojha, shared that Vaibhav had to give up some of his favorite foods like mutton and pizza to maintain his fitness.
“Mutton nahi khana hai usko, instructions hain. Pizza hata diya hai uske diet chart mein se (He’s not allowed to eat mutton. I have removed pizza from his diet chart),” Ojha told The Times of India.

“He is just fond of chicken and mutton. He is a kid, so he used to love pizza a lot. But he doesn’t eat it anymore. When we used to give him mutton, no matter how much we gave, he would finish all of it. That’s why he looks a bit chubby.”
Playing for Rajasthan Royals, Vaibhav led a thrilling chase against Gujarat Titans at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, scoring a stunning 101 off just 38 balls. His innings included seven boundaries and 11 sixes, helping his team reach the 210-run target in just 15.5 overs and keeping their playoff hopes alive.
Ojha added, “He’s a fearless batter. He has said time and again that he admires Brian Lara. But he’s a mix of Yuvraj Singh and Brian Lara. His aggression is just like Yuvraj’s.”

Meanwhile, a video has surfaced on Twitter of Suryavanshi at the age of 10, practicing on his terrace during the Lockdown in 2021, when COVID had arrived in India.
The youngster is seen hitting drives with balls placed on cones and the talent, technique is quite evident.
It shows his commitment and hunger to get better even at that young age. Despite not being able to go out of his house, Suryavanshi perhaps then made the best use of resources and time at home, perfecting his art. And four years later, the results are for all to see.
