Jitesh Sharma's decision to convince his captain to take a review worked in RCB's favour. (Screengrab)In a nail-biting contest where every delivery mattered, Jitesh Sharma emerged as Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) silent game-changer, steering them to a thrilling 11-run win over Rajasthan Royals (RR) in IPL 2025.
While his explosive cameo with the bat gave RCB a late push, it was his smart glovework and presence of mind behind the stumps that truly turned the match on its head.
As the pressure mounted in the final overs, Rajasthan looked to have the upper hand with Dhruv Jurel guiding the chase.
During the 19th over, a wide yorker from RCB’s bowler appeared to miss Jurel’s bat. With a casual appeal and the umpire signaling a wide, RCB seemed ready to move on, until Jitesh stepped in. Trusting his instincts, he urged captain Rajat Patidar to review the decision.
What followed was a game-defining moment. DRS confirmed a faint edge, overturning the umpire’s call and sending Jurel back.

His dismissal shifted the momentum dramatically. Having earlier punished Bhuvneshwar Kumar with a flurry of boundaries, Jurel’s exit deflated RR’s chase. Josh Hazlewood capitalized instantly, picking up another wicket in the same over, tightening the noose.

But Jitesh wasn’t done. In the final over, with 17 runs needed, he produced a moment of magic, diving full stretch to execute a sensational run-out that caught Wanindu Hasaranga inches short. That dismissal virtually sealed the game and helped RCB break their home jinx.
Earlier in the game, Jitesh had also chipped in with a fiery 20 off 10 balls, helping RCB post a competitive total. His all-around performance, both with bat and gloves, highlighted why RCB shelled out ₹11 crore for him at the IPL 2025 auction.
With 121 runs in 7 innings at a strike rate of 147.56, Jitesh continues to prove that he thrives under pressure. His sharp cricketing instincts and calm presence in clutch situations make him a vital cog in the RCB machine this season.
