The Mumbai Indians pacer was making his return after a long injury layoff. He got hit for a six first ball that he bowled to King Kohli. The right-hander meanwhile also became the first-ever Indian batsman and fifth overall in cricket history to reach the milestone of 13000 T20 runs.

“No respect. Batters just looking to dominate the powerplay, irrespective of the bowler,” said commentator Ian Bishop on air. Kohli smashed Bumrah towards the deep midwicket region during the fourth over of RCB’s innings.

Watch below how Kohli smacked Bumrah for a six on his return from injury.

Kohli scored 67 off 42 balls as RCB won a thriller of a game by just 12 runs. Bumrah however, ended up wicketless in his first outing for the Mumbai Indians this IPL.

Kohli hit 8 fours and 2 sixes in his swashbuckling innings. He provided the necessary impetus to RCB’s innings after they were put into bat first by Hardik Pandya and had lost the wicket of Phil Salt early.

Bangalore registered a massive first innings total of 221 for 5 in their 20 overs. Contributions from Kohli, Devdutt Paddikkal, skipper Rajat Patidar and Jitesh Sharma all proved vital.

However, the game went down to the last over with Mumbai needing 19 off 6. Krunal Pandya then held his nerves and finished with bowling figures of 4 for 45 leading RCB to a memorable win.

The win was special for Patidar and his team also because this was the first time Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in ten years. Bangalore had also stunned the Chennai Super Kings for the first time in 17 years at the Chepauk stadium a few days back.

Bangalore now have three wins from four matches and sit at the third place in the IPL 2025 Points Table.
