Mumbai Indians (MI) star fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah once again proved why he is considered one of the best in the world with an outstanding spell against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2025 clash at the Wankhede Stadium on May 6.

Bumrah broke GT’s momentum by dismissing their captain Shubman Gill during a crucial phase of the match. Gill had been playing cautiously, trying to hold his wicket as rain hovered over Mumbai.

After a slow start and failing to pick up pace, Gill was still at the crease alongside Sherfane Rutherford when GT needed 49 runs from 36 balls.

The Gujarat camp would’ve hoped Gill could guide the team to victory, but Bumrah had other plans. On the fifth ball of the 15th over, Bumrah delivered a sharp 141.7 kph ball that came back in off the pitch.

Gill, who was caught on the crease trying to play across the line, was beaten for pace. The ball hit his back leg and crashed into the stumps, ending his innings at 43 off 46 balls (three fours, one six, strike rate 93.47).

His wickets though could not take Mumbai to victory as Gujarat won a thriller of game by three wickets (DLS Method) in what was a rain-curtailed match.

TWO WICKETS, BOTH BOWLED

It was the first time this season that GT’s top three batters were all dismissed for under 50 runs in a game.

Bumrah didn’t stop there. He later bowled Shahrukh Khan with a similar delivery, nipping back in and rattling the stumps again. He followed it up with a death stare celebration (in the picture above).

What amazed commentators was how Bumrah pulled off these dismissals with a 15-over-old ball, on a dry surface, with no help from moisture or reverse swing. And like he has done for several years, Bumrah’s skill and precision brought MI right back into the contest with two game-changing wickets.
